Week 5

Thing 10:
I had fun (and wasted a lot of time) playing with the image generators on Flickr. I love the bead art, pallette generator, captionizer, and the warholizer. Others I may use in the classroom are the motivator, trading card, and calender.
Here is a photo of me that I used the "warholizer" image generator on.
Warholizer found here - http://bighugelabs.com/flickr/

Week 4

Thing 8:
I used Google Reader to set up my RSS feed for science-related websites. I love how it puts all the headlines in one easy-to-read format!

Is there is a way to share your RSS feed as a home page without being logged in? (Or is there another great way to share it that I haven't figured out yet?) That would be a great tool in the classroom!!! I can definitely see myself using this for a "Science Current Events" assignment.

I even told my mom about this - she loves keeping up with everything health/medicine related. This will save her tons of time!

Thing 9:
I added several science-related news feeds to my Google Reader account in addition to others that I found interesting. I tried Bloglines but I prefer Google Reader (in my opinion it is much more user-friendly). Any comments on your preference?

Week 3

Thing 5:

I love the tile work on this stairway. I have been working on my house this summer and used this as inspiration for the backsplash in my kitchen. I did not like the green accent tiles and did not have enough money (or patience) to replace them, so I came up with a creative way to cover them up!

Before (sorry the image is blurry!)

After

Thing 6:
I love the Flickr Color Pickr! It would be awesome to use in making a self-portrait mosaic!

Thing 7:
Something technology related that interests me... see above! I found a picture of a tile that I liked on the internet and uploaded it to Walgreens.com. The pictures were ready in an hour. I trimmed them and put them through a sticker-making machine (found at Wal-Mart in the scrapbooking aisle). Then I just peeled them off and put them over the tiles that I didn't like! It took an hour! If any get dirty or messed up (or I decide I want a different design) I can easily change them! Technology is awesome!

Week 2

Thing 3:
Setting up my blog was easy. I had fun dressing my avatar!

Thing 4:
I am on the wiki!

Week 1

Thing 1:
I am excited to be a part of this Web 2.0 Learning Community. I enjoy spending time on the internet and am anxious to learn more about it!

Thing 2:
Of the 7-1/2 Habits of Highly Successful Lifelong Learners, I find Habit 3 (View problems as challenges) to be the most difficult, but also sometimes the most fun and rewarding. A lot of my current home improvement projects come to mind!!!
